Sammary

David Gibbs graduated in 1979 with a BSc Mining Engineering degree from the Royal School of Mines, London. He has been involved in the mining industry for nearly 30 years and has a proven track record in open pit mining operations with some underground experience. Direct responsibilities have included all aspects of short and long term mine planning and engineering, mine operations supervision (owner operated and contractors), drilling and blasting, budgeting and project evaluation and development. In recent years he has held several senior management positions including strategic planning, general company management and project management. David's experience also includes several years as senior and principal consultant mining engineer undertaking feasibility studies and a number of specialist projects. From 2005 to 2007 he managed the development of a large, remote coking coal project in Indonesia; taking it from exploration through bankable feasibility to start of construction. In 2008 he returned to consulting. David has mainly worked in South Africa, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Thailand and Indonesia. His primary experience includes gold, copper, uranium, diamonds, coal (thermal and coking), nickel and industrial minerals (aggregates and talc). He has worked at some of the world's largest open pit operations for CRA/Rio Tinto and also for North Ltd, Goldfields and Bumi Resources amongst others. David is a member of the Institute of Mining and Australia (MIMM) and the Australasian Institute of Mining and Australia (MAusIMM). He is also a Chartered Engineer (CE) and Associate of the Royal School of Mines (ARSM).
